Default item attributes

Every jewelry inventory item starts with these item attribute keys as empty rows, so metal and stone content stays on the item instead of in a separate spreadsheet. Teams can fill in what applies and add any other key they need.

Default attribute key User-friendly definition
No of Stones The total number of stones set in the piece, recorded as a whole number, such as 14.
Metal Purity The karatage or fineness of the metal, such as 18K, 14K, 925, or PT950. Include the metal color only when the source document ties it to the purity, such as 18K White.
Net Metal Weight The weight of the metal alone, excluding stones, with units, such as 4.20 g.
Stone Weight The total weight of all stones, with units, such as 1.25 ct.
Gemstone Type The gemstones set in the piece. Separate multiple values with commas, such as Diamond, Blue Sapphire.
Hallmark No The hallmarking or assay identification number stamped on the piece, such as a BIS HUID like AZ4534.

To compare these values across several items, use Show attributes in an inventory table. Search also finds values such as 18K or Blue Sapphire while the columns are closed.

Default cost components

Jewelry businesses start with these cost component types, so a piece's cost separates metal, stones, bench time, and outside services instead of collapsing into one number that nobody can defend at quoting time.

Cost component What it covers
Metal The primary precious metal in the piece, priced by weight, such as sheet, wire, grain, or casting metal.
Gemstone Diamonds or colored stones set or supplied with the piece, priced per carat or per stone.
Alloy Alloy fees, master alloys, or metal mixes tracked apart from the main metal line.
Stone Hardstones, beads, or decorative stone accents that are not your primary gemstone grade.
Fabric Textile parts on the build, such as ribbon, cord sleeves, woven bands, or cloth trim.
Leather Leather straps, cord components, or leather trim used in the finished piece.
Packaging Retail boxes, pouches, anti-tarnish tabs, tags, and outer cartons tied to the sale.
Labor Bench work rolled into cost, such as CAD, casting, assembly, setting, polish, or quality checks.
Freight Inbound freight on findings and stones, or the share of outbound shipping carried in margin.
Overhead Studio, casting room, bench, utilities, admin, or handling costs allocated to the order.
Subcontracting Outside casting, plating, stone setting, hallmarking, CAD, finishing, or repair work.
Duty Import duty, customs fee, or clearance cost on metals, stones, findings, or finished jewelry.
Tax Sales tax, GST, VAT, or other billable tax tied to the order.
Certification Diamond report, hallmark, assay, appraisal, compliance card, or authenticity certificate.
Inspection Bench quality checks, stone count, metal purity review, polish check, or final inspection.
Design CAD, rendering, model making, design revisions, or customer approval work.
Setup Mold, casting tree, fixture, engraving, or first-piece setup for the job.
Markup Pricing uplift added above material, labor, service, or overhead cost.
Wastage Expected metal loss, sprue loss, polish loss, stone loss, or unusable shop material.
Scrap Recoverable metal scrap, broken findings, offcuts, or returned material from the job.
Discount Customer discount, trade allowance, promotion, or manual price adjustment.
Machine Machine time for CAD milling, laser welding, polishing, engraving, casting, or cleaning equipment.
